Tomorrow is Launch Day!
Two weeks ago, I went in search of a group blog that focused on Christian books and authors. I had hoped to join an existing group, but God had other plans.
Instead of learning of an existing group, I began to get e-mails from authors who were also interested in participating in a group blog with this focus. I’m chuckling as I write this because I often pray and ask for signs so blatant that even I can’t miss them. Within the first two or three days, we had a large group of authors all wanting to participate in a group blog. He is nothing if not clear in giving us what we need to make the path we are to take clear. And so this blog was born.
We didn’t yet have a name, or a theme, or anything really other than a desire to come together, talk about Christian books, life as a Christian, and a strong desire to encourage and inspire others with quotes and devotions and things of interest to people to whom those things are important.
I started out by getting a blog at WordPress. Then I decided we really should have the URL, and then I decided if we have the URL, we might as well use it. So we did. That led to thinking, well, if we have a URL and website and a blog, we really should have a Facebook page and a Twitter account. And so now we do.
When I look back, I wonder how in the world we got all of these things up and running, and all of the information together needed to compile them, and everything coordinated so quickly. Especially since it is prevailing thought that creative minds are rarely organized! That everything fell into place without glitches was the second sign I couldn’t miss that this venture was something that was supposed to be. And that led to our mission.
Each of the authors who write in this blog are Christians who read and write Christian books. Some of us are just beginning our careers, others of us have been at this for a couple of decades. Some have always written Christian books, fiction or nonfiction, and others of us came to writing Christian fiction and/or nonfiction after long careers writing in the general market. Some of us still do both. Yet all of us have an intense desire to share and be of service.
You can read about the authors who answered the call to serve on the welcome page, you can look to the sidebar on the blog and see their faces and their recent book releases. If you want to see what else they have written, visit the website at www.christiansread.com and check their author page there.
Understand too that the goal here is to connect. Your thoughts, ideas, and comments are welcome. Please, leave them on a blog post anytime. If you have something that you want to share with others in a post, weekends are set aside for that purpose. We call them guest-blogger posts and we hope to see many of them. Email me to get on the guest-blogger schedule.
Because we are all writers, and other writers often read our blogs seeking insights on writing, the authors will post at will on writing on the weekends as well. These are not scheduled posts but are open for authors for the purpose of sharing what they can with those who are interested.
If you are a reader or writer and would like a specific topic addressed in a blog post, drop me a note And we will see what we can do.
So tomorrow, watch for fellow author Elizabeth Goddard’s post, and for the posts that will follow by our esteemed authors. I hope that you will join us, comment with your thoughts, and spread news of Christians Read to those in your life you feel will see benefit in it.
I’m very excited about this special project, and I’m thrilled that so many have expressed their excitement, too. My hope is that Christians Read will be a blessing to us all.
Christians Read, Administrator
P.S. And we’re off!!!
